Peter is a friend of mine, I’ve known him for his passion for photography and we did a few amazing projects together and we even have a winning photo – part of a series that also inspired the painting for my logo.
Apart from creative projects, we also had lovely dinners together: Mark and I and Peter and his amazing wife, whom I’ve admired for years. She is an inspirational woman, very smart and highly motivated, not to mention also very stylish and beautiful.
We had always interesting chats, but I took this opportunity to find out more about Peter’s career as a civil engineer. Peter has a bridge named after him in Kuwait, although he doesn’t take full credit for that.
His work took him to various places around the world, many of them exciting and scary at the same time. Peter says he decided a long time ago to be the type of person who says “why not” so it will be no surprise to hear his stories related to Tajikistan after the fall of the Soviet Union, Iraq at the end of the war, Libya under the rule of Gaddafi, Himalayas and not enough oxygen and many other stories that we didn’t have time to cover this time.
Peter also talked about sustainability in construction, Scotland and staycation; the fact that one of my paintings is on the same wall as a picture of Churchill (I feel more than honored); personal stories around art in the house; photography as a creative process and the team work that it involves.
It is always a pleasure to speak to Peter and I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy this episode.
